| Built in 1890 by St.
John's Lutheran Church (the middle of Mahone Bay’s famous three churches),
Three Thistles was home to pastors and their families for more than one
hundred years.
When the house was renovated
in 2000, its Victorian character was maintained while contemporary touches
were added for the comfort of our guests.
This historic home features
many original details and is tastefully furnished with antiques and handmade
quilts. The cozy charm of the house and gardens gently echoes the past
and creates a relaxing setting to enjoy the music, books and conversation
that enliven the day at Three Thistles.
Your host, Phyllis Wiseman,
shares her enthusiasm for this beautiful province and is happy to make
suggestions for dining, sight-seeing, bird-watching and hiking. She has
traveled in Mexico and Latin America and speaks Spanish.
At Three Thistles, we
are ecologically responsible and use only environmentally friendly, non-scented
cleaning products and natural soaps and shampoos. Our delicious breakfasts
are created using locally grown and organic ingredients. Special dietary
concerns, as well as vegetarian and vegan breakfasts, are available. Recommended in the Lonely Planet Guide - Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island - 2007.
